We continually research new supplies, production methods and alternate energy solutions that enable our company to reduce waste and minimize resource consumption.

CARBON OFFSETS. DATA now offers clients the option of purchasing a carbon-neutral product. When a client decides they wish to purchase a carbon-neutral product, we present a range of offset projects and the client is able to pick one which best fits their company. We are partnering with various offset vendors within Canada. Projects are available domestically and internationally - all projects certified by a third party. The quantity of energy consumed in producing our client’s product is calculated and offsets are then purchased in a quantity sufficient to make the production carbon neutral.

PRO-ACTIVE. DATA has been recycling waste products from its printing operations for more than three decades. Today virtually nothing is discarded. The small amount that cannot be reused or recycled is sent in approved containers for disposal by government licensed specialists.

DATA has implemented a variety of environmentally friendly production techniques. All of our major facilities employ computer-to-plate technology, a digital process that eliminates use of photographic film (which requires chemical fixer and developer). Several of our facilities use Flexographic plate makers, which totally eliminate use of chemicals or water. We continuously work to reduce volatile organic compound emissions (VOCs) that can result from the printing process.

ECO-PRINT SOLUTIONS. DATA is helping its customers support environmental stewardship by providing them with both high quality products and proven ecological print production and management.

Recognizing that less than 10 percent of North American print requirements can be met with recycled paper, DATA supports responsible sources such as the Forest Stewardship Council®, an international organization that certifies sustainable development processes related to the use of forestry products. All major DATA production facilities across Canada are FSC®-certified.

DATA will continue to work closely with its customers and suppliers to find the most environmentally responsible and cost-effective way to meet the specifications of a project.
